History

Concept:  It is well known that good physical fitness is directly related to good health and that
many of the physical recreational activities improve physical fitness.  Aquatic activities are
especially beneficial to health.  When the golf club considered a building project to replace a
clubhouse that had outlived its life-expectancy, it was suggested that this concept be expanded
to include a health and fitness center that would have a pool and other physical recreational
activities.  This was the birth of this project.

Investing in our future:  One of the many aspects of living in Sheridan County at this time that
make it an enjoyable experience is the many amenities that we have.  The Library, Hospital
and Nursing Home, Schools, Courthouse, Sherwood Park and Pool, Baseball fields,
Wildwood Park, Town-square, Pioneer Manor, Golf Course, Sheridan Electric, Paved and
curbed streets, Nemont, and Farmer's Elevators are all examples of modern facilities that are
often not found in similar communities of our size.  These are also projects that depend on
local people, ideas and financing to take them to completion.  Our present was the future
to those local planners of the past.  Can you imagine living in our area without these fine
    amenities?

The ball keeps rolling:  This community spirit does continue.  The local farmer's elevator in
Westby is building a state of the art 100 car grain loading facility.  Plentywood has recently
added a Town-Square Park with a gazebo cover.  We feel that this fitness project continues
in this successful line of public good-works that can benefit our residents long into the future.

But can it work?  You betcha!  When we started thinking about this project we thought it was
a unique idea---think again.  A number of small communities in our region have been successful
with very similar projects and most of them were funded by local charitable donations.  Visit their
