Where: At the present Golf Course clubhouse on
the southwest
portion of the upper level parking lot and continuing west about
30 feet. This entire area
will be excavated down to the present
service road level. This lower level will be a lower
level entrance
and parking lot. The north end of the building will be food service
area.
The building:
Designed to be a
renewable fuels structure that takes
maximum advantage of this ideal south facing site. It will be 20 feet
high at the
sidewall to allow racquet ball play and 75' x 150' to
comfortably allow a 25 meter swimming pool.
It will have a
concrete thermal mass wall and floor using radiant heat to heat
the structure.
Three interrelated sources of external heat will be:
ground source heat pumps, liquid solar
panels, and high efficiency
condensing gas boilers that can be converted to bio-fuel if
necessary. It will operate at less than 8 BTU per square foot.

Site Advantages: It is an
elevated location on a south facing hill
that has a beautiful view of our valley in addition to being a good
solar location.
It is on the grounds of an already successful
community recreation facility and will compliment
this. It adds
many more activities that will appeal to a broader range of people.
More
people means more activity and improved chance of long-
term success. It is within walking
distance of the major retirement home in
Plentywood, the hospital and nursing home, and the already
established city park and outdoor
summer pool. It is also close to the major residential
part of town.
It is a larger enough structure to accommodate reunions and
other gatherings.
